Dr. Dale Garland

Lead Pastor

Pastor Dale is a graduate of Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (Now Gateway Seminary). He has pastored in California for more than 35 years. He leads, encourages and strengthens Christian men and women as they reach new levels in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Dale and his wife Susan have 4 children.

Broderick Allen

Executive Pastor

Pastor Broderick is passionately dedicated to expanding God's Kingdom by sharing divine truth within communities. His extensive ministry spans over 15 years, encompassing diverse leadership positions. Prior to his pastoral calling, Broderick honorably served over two decades in the U.S. Armed Forces as a paratrooper and logistician. Academically, he holds an Associate of Science, a Bachelor's in Christian Studies from California Baptist University, and a Master's in Theology from Gateway Seminary, while actively pursuing his MDIV.  A Tennessee native now residing in San Jacinto, Pastor Broderick rededicated his life to Christ in 2005.

He shares 34 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Theresa, and their family includes three adult children, six grandchildren, and a great-grandson, Rezin!.

Broderick Allen

Executive Pastor

Pastor Broderick has been part of Hope in the Valley Baptist Church since 2012, bringing a steady, servant-hearted presence to the church family. Before joining HVBC’s staff, he served as a church-plant pastor and Sunday School teacher, developing a deep love for shepherding people and helping them grow in their walk with Christ. Before entering full-time ministry leadership, Broderick served 20 years combined in the United States Marine Corps and United States Army, an experience that helped shape his character, discipline, leadership, and commitment to serving others. His military service continues to influence the way he approaches ministry—with a strong sense of responsibility, perseverance, teamwork, and a willingness to lead from the front.

Broderick holds a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies, giving him a strong biblical and theological foundation that complements his years of hands-on ministry experience. In 2025, he came on staff at Hope in the Valley Baptist Church as Pastor of Care Ministries and Growth, and in 2026 transitioned into the role of Executive Pastor. Today, he oversees Band of Brothers, church growth strategies, and care ministries—combining relational ministry with thoughtful leadership that strengthens the health and mission of the entire church.

Broderick’s ministry style is relational, bold, and encouraging. He is known for his willingness to “get his hands dirty” in ministry, stepping into hard or uncomfortable places with compassion and courage. His leadership is marked by a passion for seeing people come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and a commitment to developing strategies that help people grow, become disciples, and advance God’s kingdom. He currently leads HVBC’s “Just One More” initiative, encouraging the church family to offer what they can—and then just one more: one more minute, one more talent, one more dollar, one more act of service. His heart for discipleship, pastoral care, and church health, combined with his military leadership experience and theological training, fuels his desire to help build a healthy, growing, Christ-centered church.

Broderick and his wife, Theresa, are celebrating 32 years of marriage. Together, they enjoy life with their three adult children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandson. Outside of ministry, Broderick enjoys golf and watching Tennessee football, especially when it involves good fun and time with family. Whether he is counseling, strategizing, teaching, leading, or simply encouraging someone through a difficult season,

Broderick seeks to lead with authenticity, humility, courage, and a deep desire to see lives transformed by Christ.

Santos Gonzalez

Miles Hansen

Assistant Pastor/Youth Pastor

Pastor Miles is our passionate youth pastor here at Hope in the Valley. He studied for several years at Gateway Seminary for his Masters in Theology. He understands that the youth have the biggest opportunity for change and is fully dedicated to every student knowing Christ, because this is what Christ impressed upon him when he was young.

Pastor Miles and his wife, Jeana, are parents to Simon and Soren.

Melody Hawks

Pastor’s Assistant/Office Manager

Melody is a charter member of HVBC. She began serving on staff as our church secretary in 2008 and moved to the position of Ministerial Assistant in 2012 where she assists Pastor Dale and his Associate Pastors to coordinate and carry out ministry tasks. She is the co-coordinator of Women’s ministries at HVBC and is involved in the drama ministry. Melody and her husband Eugene reside in Hemet, have 3 children and 5 adorable grand-daughters.

Melody Hawks

Pastor’s Assistant/Office Manager

Melody has been faithfully serving at Hope in the Valley Baptist Church since 2008, bringing clarity, organization, and a steady servant’s heart to ministry. Coming to faith in 1979, Melody has spent her adult life committed to the local church and to helping pastors, leaders, and members thrive in their God‑given roles. As the Pastor’s Ministry Assistant and Church Office Administrator, she manages administrative systems that keep HVBC running smoothly. As she works behind the scenes, she does her best to ensure that things don't fall through the cracks. 
In addition to her administrative leadership, Melody oversees official church records, and supports committees, ministry teams, and pastoral initiatives with professionalism and care. Her ministry style is practical, relational, and deeply committed to helping others succeed. Whether she is coordinating a project, preparing documents, or assisting pastoral staff, Melody serves with joy and a genuine love for the church family.
Outside of her administrative responsibilities, Melody enjoys travel planning, event coordination, video editing, and creative projects. She is married to Eugene a US Navy Veteran. They have 3 adult children, 6 grandchildren and are grateful for the life and ministry God has given their family. Melody’s heart is simple: to serve the Lord faithfully, support the mission of HVBC, and help create an environment where people can grow, connect, and experience the love of Christ.

Emma Brummett

Ministry Coordinator

Emma and her family have been members at HVBC for more than 20 years. Emma coordinates our Church calendar and oversees that each of the ministry activities occur in harmony. She is also the Leader of the Eyes That ‘C’ Puppet Team. She and her husband Max have 5 grown children and 1 grandchild and they reside in Hemet.

Emma Brummett

Ministry Coordinator

Emma Brummett has been part of Hope in the Valley Baptist Church since 1991, faithfully serving the Lord and His people for more than three decades. Coming to faith as a youth, Emma has carried a lifelong passion for prayer, discipleship, and helping women understand their identity as Daughters of the King. Over the years, she has served in many areas of ministry—including children’s ministry, event planning, and creative outreach—but today she focuses her energy on leading Tea Talks, HVBC’s women’s Bible study, , and guiding the church’s intercessory prayer ministry. Her teaching style is conversational, warm, and rooted in Scripture, and women deeply appreciate her bold, unapologetic proclamation of the gospel and her desire to help them walk confidently in Christ.
Emma has played a key role in shaping ministry at HVBC, helping plan and lead numerous events, retreats, and gatherings that have strengthened and encouraged women across generations. She also continues her long‑time passion for puppetry, using creative storytelling to share biblical truth in memorable ways. Her leadership is marked by compassion, authenticity, and a steady commitment to prayer—qualities that have made her a trusted voice and a cherished mentor within the church family.
Emma and her husband, Max, enjoy life with their five adult children and one grandson. Outside of ministry, she loves spending time with her grandson and creating in the digital space, especially through graphic design and visual storytelling. Whether she is teaching, praying, designing, or encouraging, Emma’s heart remains the same: to help women know who they are in Christ and to walk boldly in the calling God has placed on their lives.

Jennifer Urias

Church Secretary

Jennifer Urias is our church secretary and has been a member since she was a bus kid. Jennifer is also our Children’s Ministry Director. She is involved in our puppet ministry, Awana, Sunday school teacher, and leads our children's church.
