California Missions Offering
What is CMO?
The California Mission Offering (CMO) is an annual initiative by the California Southern Baptist Convention (CSBC) to unite churches, believers, and communities in praying for and giving to mission work across the state.
Theme & Scripture
For 2025, the theme is “Because it will take all of us” (1 Corinthians 3:8, CSB), emphasizing that the task of reaching California for Christ is too great for any one person — it requires collective prayer, giving, and faithfulness.
2025 Goal
The statewide target is to support a wide range of ministries, including:
-
Evangelism and reaching unreached people groups
-
Church planting and revitalization
-
Disaster relief
-
Migrant worker missions
-
Church matters (compliance and revitalization)
-
Associational partnerships
Purpose & Impact
The CMO aims to:
-
Educate congregations about funded mission projects
-
Raise awareness of the need to reach about 33 million unchurched residents in California
-
Encourage prayer, short- and long-term missions, and active giving
-
Keep 100% of gifts within the state to support local ministries
How to Promote & Participate
The CSBC provides a planning guide with step-by-step suggestions for pastors and church leaders, including:
-
Setting a focus date (often September or October)
-
Setting a giving goal and vision
-
Downloading free promotional materials (videos, slides, social graphics, prayer prompts)
-
Showing mission-related videos in worship or small groups
-
Sharing weekly reminders in bulletins, emails, or social media
-
Involving youth and families in mission challenges
Why It Matters
Your church’s participation strengthens local ministries, supports church plants, and brings hope through disaster relief. Every gift is both financial and testimonial a visible sign of faith in the Great Commission.
